Sunday School Material
If you're a Sunday School teacher seeking new and fresh material for lessons, I'd like to suggest three of my books for that very purpose. I'll discuss each one below. Book one would be good for a variety of ages whereas books two and three would be perfect for children ages 4 to 8.
1. Imaginative Bible Meditations: Strengthening Family Devotions with Creativity.
This book is geared towards families but could easily be adapted for Sunday School classes. Readers are taught that one of the meanings of biblical meditation is imagination and shown various ways to imagine the Bible. One example is comparing natural things like fairy tales and children's stories with biblical truths. Another is to "interview biblical characters" and so on.
There are 10 chapters which could easily translate to 10 lessons. If you're looking for a way to spark creativity in your students, this book is worth checking out.
The description reads as follows:
In these pages, Jenny welcomes you and your family on a journey that combines devotional times with your artistic inclinations.
Together, you'll see Scripture in a new light through the unique connections made in this book. You'll understand complex truths and grow together in faith as your understanding of biblical meditation expands.
Whether you're a seasoned artist or a stick-figure pro, a master or amateur writer, this book will ignite your imagination and inspire your faith as you connect with each other and your Creator. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity.
It has three five-star ratings and includes reviews like:
I bought this book out of curiosity and found it to be just as the title suggests: a very creative way to approach family devotionals. Going from what children already know in the way of fairy tale characters and events, then applying that knowledge to what the Bible teaches is a unique way of engaging young family members. This would be a great gift to any young Christian family in your church community or for your church library!

2. The Bee That Waved at Me: A Story About Finding Purpose
This book is a whimsical children's story that deals with topics like kindness and disabilities. It's meant to prove that every person has value no matter their limitations. A unique part of this book is the reflection questions at the end.
A Sunday School teacher could read the story to the children and then ask them to answer those questions. This would help the child apply what was read and be an encouragement. The teacher could also ask questions to draw out the main theme of the story.
The description is as follows:
What if you could live a purposeful life despite disabilities and limitations? If that describes you or someone you love, Mr. Bee’s whimsical journey will offer encouragement that what might seem impossible, is well within reach. Written from a Christian perspective, this heart-warming story is meant to show readers that no matter the disability or limitation, they have a purpose.
This book has several 5-star ratings and reviews like:
Thoughtful children's story that has an inspirational message for all ages! The reflection questions at the end help to pinpoint a person's strengths and promote self-love.
3. Jesus is My Life Vest: A Story about Salvation
This book is a clear gospel presentation presented as an allegory of sorts. It includes Bible references at the bottom of every page.
A Sunday School teacher could read the story while looking up and discussing each reference. Once again, there are reflection questions at the end of the book. The teacher could ask students the questions and if anyone had doubts about their salvation, the teacher could visit the link at the back of the book.
The description is as follows:
What if you could know for sure you were going to heaven after you die? You can. That’s what this book is about. It starts with an allegory that leads to a simple salvation explanation that anyone can understand. If you fear what’s in store for you after death, this book will assure you of the truth you’ve been seeking. Don’t go another minute without answering the deepest question a human can ask.
This also has several 5-star ratings and reviews like:
